311, set low ET at 4.84, top speed at 317 and won the
event.
Runner-up was Cruz Pedregon. He qualified #2 at 4.88/
309 and had a consistently fast car until meeting Force
in
the final.
Whit Bazemore had a good outing in Chuck Etchell's car,
qualifying #3 at 4.90/306 and lasting until the semi's.
Force's "B" team with Tony Pedregon driving was
#4 at
4.91/310. They lost to Force in the semi's.
Crowd favorite Cory Lee drove Tom Hoover's beautiful
car to the 2nd round. Hoover sold his primary car at
Pomona, but Cory talked him into staying on the tour.
Del Worsham was #12 with a 5.04/253, but managed to
make it to the 2nd round by knocking off Skuza in round
1.
The WWF sponsored car of Jerry Toliver had a decent
outing with a 5.00/304 to qualify #10. They lost in round
2.
Scotty Cannon struggled in his "Nitro Mater"
entry. They
could muster a best of only 5.61/267 for 2nd alternate.
